Hodding Carter at Ole Miss

Overby Center

A member of one of Mississippi’s most prominent families in journalism returns to the state to talk about his experiences in guiding Greenville’s Delta Democrat-Times during the turbulent days of the 1960s and 1970s. Hodding Carter III, whose father established the newspaper and won a Pulitzer Prize for his against-the-grain editorials, discusses the challenges of the civil rights era and the period when Mississippi went through a significant transition. Bill Rose, a member of the Ole Miss journalism faculty who began his own career as a reporter for the Delta Democrat-Times, took part in the conversation.
